The Rocket boys soccer team defeated Bishop Meige 2-0 on November 6th at Rose Hill to advance to the Class 4-1A championship for the first time since 2015.
“The game went really well and we took care of business by playing as a team and never quitting,” said sophomore Brady Liebl, who scored both of the Rockets goals.
Liebl scored his first goal late in the first half and then added the exclamation point late in the second half when the Miege goalie misplaced a ball that led to a wide-open net.
This is the first time Bishop Meige has been shut out since 32 games ago, which was on September 26th against Kansas City Christian.
“This Bishop Meige team was one of the toughest teams we played all season,” said sophomore goalkeeper Gus Cornejo-Arambula, who recorded five goals. “I knew I would have to play my best game so we could have a chance. Saturday will be the game I most look forward to.”
Next up for the Rockets is the championship game at Stryker Sports Complex against Wichita Trinity Academy on November 9 at 10:30.
