The negatives of gaming
Studies have shown that video games can cause negative effects such as an unhealthy addiction, little desire to go outside, and health issues de- rived from eating.
Many studies have been brought forward that show evidence of child obesity. In one study there were 249 cases, showing that 56 percent of younger men who played video games were overweight, and used the Internet for longer periods of time.
A recent long-standing debate over violent video games is that gaming can cause players to be- come more physically aggressive in their daily life.
A study that was published in The USA Today in 2018 observed more than 17,000 adolescents, the ages ranged from nine to 19. This study started in 2010 and ended in 2017, conforming that violent video games can lead to increased physical aggression over time.
Another aspect to the study was video games that feature violent actions can lead to higher aggression levels for the individual.
“Players who become engrossed in first-person shooter-style video games may adopt a detached view of society or develop aggressive thoughts and tendencies,” said Richard Gallagher, Director of the New York University Child Study Center’s Institute.
According to a story from Reuters, gaming may cause relationships to be destroyed such as with friends, siblings, and parents. The same study also showed that video games could affect your child’s life if he or she is obsessed with video games. There are some actions that the guardian of the child can see, such as intense arguing, excessive gaming, and lying about time spent on video games, according to
Video games can cause higher aggression levels in young adults and also other unhealthy issues such as obesity and anorexia. Excessive video game playing can be unhealthy to the player and also to the people around them.
