Rose Hill wrestling coach Chris Saferite was named 4A Wrestling Coach of the Year at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Looking back on the successful year, Saferite is thankful for all the opportunities he’s been given.
“It is an honor to be recognized by other coaches across the state,” Saferite said. “We have done a lot of good things here in Rose Hill over the last couple of years. To be named coach of the year, to me, means that we had a pretty good team. Without the wrestlers and the coaches that I have on my team, it would not have been possible. It is a team effort and not just a coaching thing. I am lucky to be able to lead a great group of young men and coaches.”
Saferite couldn’t have done it alone, and gave thanks to his athletes for all their hard work.
“There is a lot of hard work that goes into having a good team, years of practice and hours spent when no one is watching,” Saferite said. “This group of kids has been putting in a lot of time in the practice room since they were four, five, or six years old. We have had a bunch of dedicated kids, coaches, and parents for the last ten years and that plays the biggest part.”
