A softball field and a multi-purpose field for soccer, football, and band to practice on will be the first phase of the bond project that passed on November 4th.
According to the December Board of Education meeting agenda, construction will begin on January 6th, and is looking to be done by April 1st.
“I think putting in a new soccer field would really help our student athletes. Right now we have space but there are other sports and people using it as well,” senior soccer player Nevaeh Kelly said. “If they get a field to themselves it gives the kids a chance to just focus on your sport and getting better and not with the distractions around you or worrying you’re going to hit the ball at someone.”
Superintendent Chuck Lambert is excited to hopefully start playing on these fields in the upcoming season.
“We hope to play some softball and soccer games this year at this new complex,” Lambert said.
Parking will be another factor to the new construction, but the district is still debating on what direction they want to go.
“We will decide how parking will work for the new turf facility after the rest of the construction is done,” Lambert said.
Along with the multi-purpose field, the district is also constructing a new softball field. The entire field will be red clay turf. This field ensures that the softball team has their own field for practice and games. The new field will also include lights, scoreboard, and brand new sound system.
“I am extremely grateful to be able to play on this brand new field for my senior year,” senior softball player, Addie Rea said.
