On November 5, 2024 a bond issue was passed for Rose Hill High School to begin construction for new facilities. The staff and students were thrilled to have this opportunity.
“(I was) very pleased with the renovations that have taken place,” said Aaron Jackson, Rose Hill High School’s Principal.
Although Jackson was pleased with the outcome, there were some flaws in the material that the architect chose. The lunchroom flooring is not holding up to the lunch table weight when students sit down. As a result of this the tables are denting the flooring and leaving permanent marks.
“(In order) to fix this issue the architect and Hutton Construction are looking at possible options to correct it,” said Jackson.
Throughout the summer Jackson would do weekly checks to see how the progress was coming along. He showed his excitement to this project by always being present to give the students a wonderful environment to learn in for the upcoming school year.
The lockers that were lined in the halls were all removed in this process. This created more usable space for the students. With the remaining area, they installed countertops and chairs for the students to have a place to study.
“(The countertops and chairs) will give students more room with better options to do many things,” said Jackson.
A very special feature they added to the building was hanging framed black and white pictures of the students around each hallway. As you walk around the school you can see all the memories the students have made at RHHS.
With all of the improved facilities, Jackson thinks this opportunity will really impact our students and how they will grow through Rose Hill High School.
“It’s an exciting time to be a Rocket,” Jackson said.
