The Rocket volleyball team celebrates their sub-state victory over Nickerson on Saturday, October 21. The Rockets are the fourth seed at the state tournament in Hutchinson.

The Rocket volleyball team has made it to the state tournament for the third year in a row and are the fourth seed in the tournament.

They will first play Louisburg at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

Their next two matches are at 10:30 against Topeka Hayden, the number eight seed, and 1:30 against Independence, the number one seed. Rose Hill is on Court A  and coach Cherith Mock and senior Emily Adler have said it is the toughest of the two courts.

“Louisburg and Independence are going to be good and Topeka-Hayden will be good, too,” Adler said. “It’s going to be tough but I think we can win.”

If they finish first or second in their pool they will advance to bracket play on Saturday to decide who competes for the state championship. If they win the final game then they will be state champions for the third year in a row.

“I expect us to compete with every team we play and to play our game in order to be successful,” Mock said. “They know that it isn’t going to be easy to win three titles in a row, they know they have to work at it and play with all they’ve got to be successful.  They have the desire and they’ve worked hard to get where we are today.”

The Rockets think they have the necessary experience to win state again.

“We have a lot seniors that are very experienced,” Adler said. “We know how we need to play and what we need to do so we need to go in and get it done.”
