The USD 394 calendar committee voted on Calendar B for the 2023-2024 school year. Each staff member voted for what they thought would be most beneficial for everyone in the district.

“Variations of calendars generally fall into start and end dates and length of Christmas break,” said Ryan Hill, who was on the calendar committee.

There is a certain amount of student contact days and teacher training days that the calendar needs to include. 

“We need to work to find a solution to have an equal number of days between first and second semester,” Hill said. “There are some limitations on how the calendar is constructed, such as holidays, and end of quarters and semesters.”

The calendar is voted and agreed upon in the weeks just before spring break. 

 “Staff members vote and the school board approves the vote and calendar,” Hill said.

Some of the most important dates on this calendar consist of the following:

Aug 15, 2023-first day of school

Oct. 19-20, 2023- First Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Nov. 22-24, 2023- Thanksgiving Break

Dec. 20, 2023- Jan. 2, 2024- Winter Break

Feb.15-16, 2023 – Parent -Teacher conferences

Mar. 11-15, 2024 – Spring Break

May 17,2024- Last Day for Seniors

May, 19, 2024- RHHS Graduation

May 22, 2024- Last day for all students
