As December rolls around, the holiday season often reveals how both giving and receiving gifts play important roles in creating the spirit of Christmas.
There is a special feeling that comes with the act of gift giving but this can look different for everyone.
McKenzie Minks, a senior at Rose Hill High School, likes to give out gifts for the holidays. Whenever she hands out gifts during Christmas time Minks feels a special connection with these acts.
“I like seeing the people I love being happy because of something I did for them,” said Minks.
The best Christmas gift Minks has ever given was a personalized blanket she bought for her grandma. This blanket held lots of memories with recent and previous pictures of her and her brother.
“She uses it all the time, and everyone who sees it compliments it,” said Minks.
For others, Christmas isn’t just a holiday but it’s the joy of unwrapping gifts that make the season feel so special.
Adyson Shallah, a junior at Rose Hill High School, likes to receive gifts for the holidays rather than give them out. This act of thoughtfulness brings Shallah happiness; making her feel like she’s cared about.
“My favorite types of gifts are thoughtful ones, either homemade or bought but something I know got a lot of thought put into it,” said Shallah.
