Every day two children in the Rocket community have to battle something no kid should ever have to. Wanting to bring support and awareness, Rose Hill High School’s KAY Club (Kansas Association for Youth) held a Miracle Minute in their honor.
In June of 2025 first grader Adaline Travis was diagnosed with leukemia, while second grader Casen Percival was diagnosed with kidney cancer in April of 2025.
“Teri Koester started that tradition (Miracle Minute) when she sponsored the club, and we have continued it as it’s a great way to help a local non-profit,” said Katie Antholz-Mitchell Sponsor of KAY Club.
All the profits that KAY has collected the previous three times during Miracle Minutes have been donated to Victory in the Valley, a local non-profit organization for cancer patients. They provide many services, including a free wig boutique, support groups for both cancer patients and caregivers, and a canine friends program.
“Our main goal with Miracle Minutes is to support local causes not only financially but raising awareness,” said Antholz-Mitchell.
In fall of 2025 KAY wanted to host a Miracle Minute in both Adaline and Casen’s honor. KAY’s goal was to surpass their previous funds of 600 dollars. Due to the pouring rain the Rocket community donated 325 dollars.
“We are surrounded by a wonderful community that cares,” said Antholz-Mitchell.
In Adaline’s honor, winter of 2025 the Rose Hill High School’s Dance Team collaborated with KAY’s Club to raise awareness to her condition. In just sixty seconds the Rocket community came together at the dance team’s little clinic, raising $1,750 dollars to benefit Adaline in her leukemia battle.
“I was blown away with the generosity of our community,” said Antholz-Mitchell.
