Mock takes over volleyball program

Last season was Rocket volleyball head coach Melissa Segovia’s last season with Rocket volleyball she took a head coaching job at Valley Center.  Rocket volleyball got a new head coach. Cherith Mock took Segovia’s place as volleyballs head coach.

Mock played volleyball and basketball for Emporia State University. Mock has coached at Derby and Augusta but this is her first time being a head coach.

“I came to Rose Hill because I liked the smaller community,” Mock said. “ I wanted my kids to grow up in a little bit of a smaller school so they can have a little more of a personal experience.”

Mock plans to stay in Rose Hill for a long time

“I am looking forward to having several years in Rose Hill,” Mock said. “My kids are young enough that I’m going to stick around for a while that I get to coach for quiet a while”

There might be some pressure coming to coach a team with a record like the volleyball team,

“Definitely, I feel like we are expected to succeed so the pressure is definitely high” Mock said.

Mock thinks her team is still trying to find its chemistry but they are coming together.

“I think that, like I said, we are coming together real well,” Mock said. “Adding a few more players so we are still trying to get some more practice together get some touches in the team were looking pretty good”

Mock thinks there is a great chance of the team winning a third state title this year. Mock thinks highly of the team but what does the team think of her?

“She is really nice and easy going and a great coach,” senior Emily Adler said. “On (getting back to) state it will really depend on how we play and work together.”
