Rose Hill High School principal, Aaron Jackson, announced his retirement effective at the end of the school year.
Jackson has been in education for 31 years, where he filled many different roles.
Some of these roles include math teacher, football and basketball coach, athletics director, assistant principal and now head principal.
Throughout the 31 years he has been in education, 13 of those years have been at Rose Hill High School – 11 years as the assistant principal and two as the principal.
Many have asked Jackson what he plans on doing in all of this newly found free time he will have.
“First and foremost, I plan on spending a lot of time with my granddaughter, who lives with my son and daughter-in-law in Utah. She was born last month,” said Jackson.
He also plans on spending more time on hobbies that may have been less of a priority before retirement, like fishing and hunting.
Many years in education come with many great stories, this made it hard for Jackson to narrow it down to a favorite.
“Collectively, it’s developing those positive relationships with students and staff,” said Jackson.
Jackson also said how amazing it is to see how students grow from their freshmen year, and see how they mature through the course of their secondary experiences and leave the building a different person when they graduate.
So many people are sad to see Jackson go. Many will miss the smile that he greets everyone with and the “How we doing?!” that just brightens people’s day.
“Get involved in your high school, whether it be athletically, fine arts, clubs, etc,” Jackson said. “Enjoy that time because it goes by quickly.”
